How to make an apple grinder by yourself?
To extract juice from apples or grapes using a press, preliminary processing is required. Apples need to be chopped, and grapes need to be crushed.
An apple crusher can not only be purchased but also made by hand. For this, you only need tools that are in your garage and, of course, a bit of ingenuity.

1. Turn a wooden cylinder with a diameter of 80-90 mm from an old apple tree, oak, or beech. Drill a central hole and secure the cylinder on a stainless steel shaft. Screw stainless steel screws into the wooden cylinder so that the heads of the screws protrude by 6-8 mm.

2. Make a wooden housing for the crusher and install the shaft with the crushing cylinder on 2 bearings or 2 plastic bushings made of friction plastic. Oak, beech, or stainless steel are the best materials for the housing. These materials can also be combined. Plywood cannot be used—only natural wood or stainless steel is suitable.
3. Attach 2 longitudinal beams to the housing that will serve as handles. This way, the crusher can be secured between 2 benches over a container for crushed apples.
4. Make a wheel with a handle for rotating the crushing cylinder, as well as a wooden block – a pusher.
The larger the diameter of the cylinder, the easier it will be to capture apples during crushing – they will not need to be pressed or cut into 4 pieces.

Drill-powered apple crusher
Design 1. Plastic bucket + crushing knife
An apple and grape crusher can be made from a plastic bucket.

1. Buy a 20-liter bucket. Remove the plastic lid and handle – you won’t need them anymore.
2. To make the knife, take 3mm stainless steel and sharpen it on a grinding wheel. Weld a tube in the center, and at the end of the tube, attach a hexagon so that the knife shaft can be securely clamped in the chuck.
3. Make a lid from stainless steel or plywood with a hole in the middle. Create clamps on the lid to secure it to the bucket. Attach a bushing made of friction plastic to the lid. Cover the plywood lid with varnish or oil with hard wax. Make a depth limiter on the knife shaft to avoid damaging the plastic bucket during operation.
4. Attach a foot platform to the bottom of the bucket so that the bucket does not rotate during apple crushing.
5. For crushing apples, use only a powerful quality drill or a hammer drill in drilling mode.

1. The design of this crusher is similar to the manual crusher described above. Only a larger volume housing needs to be made so that more apples can be filled at once. It is also advisable to attach a lid to the top of the crusher so that during crushing, the pulp does not scatter.
2. Also, a hexagon needs to be welded to the shaft or an adapter made so that the shaft can be securely fixed in the drill chuck.

Electric fruit crusher

1. Make the crusher as for the drill (described above). It is better to make the crushing cylinder with a diameter of 160mm or more. A large cylinder diameter is necessary so that apples do not need to be pressed and pushed during crushing. The cylinder will capture them by itself.
2. Secure a washing machine motor next to the crushing shaft. Attach a pulley to the shaft and install a belt. Be sure to make a cover for the belt drive to prevent limbs from getting caught.
3. The washing machine motor needs to be connected through a special speed controller.

Design 2. Grater disk
1. Cutting disk
Make a cutting disk from 1mm stainless steel. To do this, cut a circle and drill alternating holes with a diameter of 8mm. Then "punch" the holes and sharpen them with a file or metal cutter. Attach 2 blades to the other side of the disk that will push the crushed apples outwards.

2. Housing
Weld the housing from stainless steel in such a way that during crushing, the apples fly out well, and the juice does not get on the motor. For this, you can use a seal or the principle of an "upside-down cup".
3. Motor
- Motor power 0.18-1.3 kW depending on the required performance
- Rotation speed 1400-1500 revolutions per minute
4. Motor support
Weld a support for the motor or make legs so that the crusher is stable during operation, and a bucket for crushed raw materials can be placed at the outlet.
